Three down...

This Wednesday is the third anniversary of my first post and this will be post #477.

This may not be the best blog on the web but I’ve enjoyed posting and updating it with my various projects and that those that pop by have occasionally found something they find to be of interest. I’m a wargamer first, painter second. I am nowhere near the best painters round but I do take pleasure in seeing troops I’ve taken time, effort and commitment to paint on table and get immense satisfaction in using troops that I have painted. I hope that this blog encourages others a bit and shows that you don’t need to be the best in the business to get reasonably painted troops on table and enjoy the wargaming hobby.

When it comes to painting I only have on rule which I refuse to break and which motivates me to get troops done- they must be painted and based before they can be put on a table and gamed with (okay so maybe that is technically two rules). This approach is what spurs me on when I have a new project- probably the silliest example of this approach to gaming was when Kent and I decided to get into 28mm Lasalle and within a month had our forces painted so we could play our first game. The guys at the club thought we were mad but we got the stuff painted!

Anyway, I digress. I hope this blog shows that wargamers, not matter what their painting skill levels, enjoy their hobby.  One of the most pleasing things about this blog is that I met other gamers in New Zealand who have been encouraged by this blog to start their own blogs and now there are a number of excellent New Zealand wargaming blogs that I have had a small part in encouraging.

Anyway thanks for stopping by over the past three years for a look at what my latest project is. I look forward to the next three.

Good gaming

Craig

  1. Well done Craig - I know you spurred me on to start my own blog.

Good work on yours, I've had to cut my 'internetting' back a bit but still find a lot worthwhile to see here.

  3. Congratulations on three years Craig. I got back into wargaming almost three years ago and I've read this blog consistently over that time.

I'm in full agreement about the painting. My own brushwork is rather workmanlike, but it's immensely satisfying to field an army that you've painted yourself.

    Keep up the great work!

  4. Very well done Craig. Your blog has been an inspiration to me. Also like to say I am in full agreement with having troops painted before they hit the table. Keep up the excellent work mate.
